Online communication has become a valuable tool that can increase, enhance and retain traffic to your site. The OneNet system offers 2 very powerful tools that enable you to accomplish this feat in the form of blogs and forums. I am often asked about the difference between these two and will do my best to explain them in-depth and help you choose the application that best fits your needs.

It seems like everywhere you look there are dozens of offers for high speed internet. Im not talking solely about homes and offices either. You can hardly drive down the road without seeing a plethora of restaurants, hotels, gas stations and even Laundromats touting their free high speed wireless internet access. With the saturation of high speed internet availability web sites have morphed into dynamic, multimedia rich applications instead of simple text based static pages. Videos have seen a rather large upturn in demand for viewing online and are becoming one of those things that people expect to find on sites. When it comes to videos and the internet there are a variety of options including Flash, hosted video sites (YouTube, DailyMotion, etc.), an embedded media player or streaming video. With all these options how do you decide which to use? Well, its your lucky day, I am going to offer up my opinion on the different options to help guide your way.

The OneNet system features 2 different choices for controlling access to pages on your site. The first option is having hidden pages. In other words, it will not display in the site navigation menus and can only be viewed be going to the exact URL of the page. The second option is controlling who can view a page through the use of security roles. Utilizing security roles allows you to assign specific categories of users the ability to view a page or content on that page. These both have their own strengths and weaknesses and your usage will depend on your goal for the page.

Over the years there have been vast improvements in the online mapping capabilities of sites such as Mapquest, Google Maps, Virtual Earth and the myriad of other similar products. The latest and greatest innovative feature comes to us courtesy of Google Maps. They have instituted a new view to their maps for select cities, designated as the street view. This view provides a 360 degree, panoramic view from the street level rather than the standard aerial photography. The project was originally started in May of 2007 in select large metropolitan areas but as of February 12, 2008 Boise has been added to the list!

Over the course of the past two decades, the internet and websites have seen a tremendous growth in both availability and popularity. Even with the massive increase in websites, there is one thing that hasnt changed over the years: what people are looking for in a website. More specifically, when people visit a business website they are usually looking for something. For all the fancy features, colors and design elements, people are usually at a website to read black text on a white background. Content is (still) king.

A part of my day is generally spent helping our customers with issues they encounter when using the system. As I help people I notice one comment recurring over and over: I cant find the button to edit the settings, it just disappeared!. This Tip of the Day article will explain just exactly where your little edit button went and how to fix it.
