The Mapping and Directions module will allow you to add an interactive map to your site.  You will have the option to display your map in 2D or 3D and allow users to navigate around the map.  Additionally, you can create a pushpin list of locations to draw the viewer’s attention to points of interest that you specify.  You can even add your own custom data layers which will enable you to overlay anything you want on the map.

Setting up the map is a simple process.  You can select how you want the map viewed and specify default altitude, pitch and heading settings.  You will be able to specify whether users can navigate around the map or you can disable navigation so they are always looking where you want them to look.  Want a user to see a specific spot as soon as your map is loaded?  Simply set the map center and zoom level to show users the exact view you desire and your map will load that way every time.

The pushpin feature allows you to build a list of points of interest that are displayed graphically.  For example, you could display the location of your store on the map to enable people to easily find the location graphically.  To setup a point of interest all you need to do is input the street address.  Once the point of interest is setup you can add a description for the location.  This description will be displayed when users mouse over the location.  For added customization, you can also upload your own images to create custom pushpins.

For even more customization you can make use of custom data layers.  Custom data layers will enable you to overlay any image over the map.  By using a custom data layer you can have a visual layout of everything from a mountain bike trail to a community map that displays lots in the correct locations.  Custom data layers are a fantastic way to enhance the features of the map to fit whatever your needs may be.
